The Stone Belt Arts Program provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to expand their capacity for self-expression, contribute to the beautification of the community, develop new life skills and work professionally in the arts.
Creative exploration provides an outlet for self expression, identity transformation and the sharing of one’s personal story. Stone Belt envisions “the arts” very broadly – including visual, performing and culinary arts – and strives to provide a diverse offering of experiences through its education programming. The goal of Stone Belt’s art exploration programming is to bring individuals with disabilities together with talented community members for in-depth learning and collaboration.
Stone Belt arts education includes:
• Full-time Visual Arts Educators
• Dedicated Visual Arts Studios
• Artists-in-Residence mini-course programs
• Public performances and installations in cooperation with area theatre and civic groups
Through the Stone Belt Art Gallery, individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to work as professional artists through the sale of their original art works. Individual artists have become locally and regionally known, and their works are sought after by discerning collectors. Artists create in various media, including mixed-media mosaics, water colors, wood and pastels.

Works created through Stone Belt's Arts program are created by persons with disabilities. Clients are paid for designing and creating each piece, and remaining revenue goes to Stone Belt programming to support individuals with disabilities to live independently within the community.
