Arts Exploration

Creative exploration provides an outlet for self expression, identity transformation and the sharing of one’s personal story. Stone Belt envisions “the arts” very broadly – including visual, performing and culinary arts – and strives to provide a diverse offering of experiences through its education programming. The goal of Stone Belt’s art exploration programming is to bring individuals with disabilities together with talented community members for in-depth learning and collaboration.

Stone Belt arts education includes:

• Full-time visual arts educators
• Dedicated visual arts studios
• Artists-in-Residence mini-course programs
• Public performances and installations in cooperation with area theater and civic groups

Community Collaboration

All people have the ability to contribute to the beauty of our community. Through Stone Belt’s arts programming, individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to share their talents and to promote messages of independence, dignity and community integration.

Stone Belt partners with community leaders and artists (such as collaborative artist Joe Lamantia) to establish art installations which educate the community on the abilities of all people to contribute to the beautification of our society.

Stone Belt client art works are on permanent display throughout the community, in myriad locations, including parks, medical and legal offices, governmental buildings, television show backdrops, and more. The Stone Belt Art Gallery

Through the Stone Belt Art Gallery, individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to work as professional artists through the sale of their original art works.  Individual artists have become locally and regionally known, and their works are sought after by discerning collectors. Artists create in various media, including mixed-media mosaics, water colors, wood and pastels.

The Stone Belt Artists

Works created through Stone Belt's Arts program are created by persons with disabilities. Clients are paid for designing and creating each piece, and remaining revenue goes to Stone Belt programming to support individuals with disabilities to live independently within the community.
