About Volunteering:
Volunteers make the difference at Stone Belt! From assisting clients with arts projects to working one on one with clients who are developing life skills in our Life Long Learning program, volunteers provide wonderful opportunities for individuals with disabilities to establish meaningful relationships and connect with the community.
Because volunteering at Stone Belt is about building substantive relationships, we prefer to work with individuals who are able to commit to an on-going service model. We occasionally have one-time volunteer opportunities for groups. However, the majority of our volunteer experiences are regularly-scheduled, on-going commitments. We keep a schedule of opportunities, and when these are all filled we retain a waiting list for those who would like to be considered for the future.
Please contact us to explore current opportunities and to learn about the orientation and required training involved:

About Service Learning:
Stone Belt is honored to be considered a premiere non-profit location for service learning activities for the Bloomington campus of Indiana University. Our goal is to strengthen the relationship between the agency and the university community through meaningful and productive service learning opportunities where all participants have shared goals. Our expectation is that the service learning will benefit all three constituents in the service learning equation: the faculty member, the service learning students, and the agency. We view service learning as a partnership between these three constituent groups. There are two types of service learning activities that take place: service based activity and project based activity.
Stone Belt is fortunate to participate in the ACE (Advocate for Community Engagement) program through Indiana University. Stone Belt has an ACE on staff during every academic year. The ACE, an undergraduate student from Indiana University, is responsible for overseeing service learning within the agency.
STONE BELT WORKS WITH A SELECT GROUP OF SERVICE LEARNING FACULTY. ALL STUDENT PLACEMENTS ARE BASED ON THESE ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS. WE DO NOT PLACE STUDENTS INDIVIDUALLY IN ANY GIVEN SEMESTER. STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO PLEASE SPEAK WITH THEIR FACULTY DIRECTLY REGARDING THE AVAILABILITY OF SERVICE LEARNING PLACEMENTS WITHIN OUR AGENCY.
Faculty who are interested in establishing future service learning projects with Stone Belt are invited to contact us using the information below:
