Meet the dedicated individuals who head up Stone Belt's regions and programs.

Executive Team

The executive team leads the agency’s overarching strategic decision-making in areas including finance, human resources, development, marketing and information technology. Committed to quality, efficiency, and innovation the executive team works each day to move the agency forward.

Leslie Green, Chief Executive Officer

Image of Leslie GreenLeslie Green started with Stone Belt in 1979 as a recreation specialist. In 2000, she became the agency’s third CEO. In her leadership role, Leslie oversees all aspects of Stone Belt’s daily operations. She also stays active in the community and currently serves on the Council of Executives of The Arc, which gives her the opportunity to be involved in policy issues related to serving persons with developmental disabilities.  |  Email Leslie   | Interviews with Leslie

Ward Brown, Chief Financial Officer

Image of Ward BrownWard is responsible for all aspects of Stone Belt’s finances, including fiscal management and strategic development. He is also responsible for coordinating Stone Belt’s technology efforts with program objectives. Ward has served as chief financial officer since 2006. Prior to becoming CFO, Ward served in a number of positions in the agency, starting as a substitute at Elliot Group Home in 1995.  |  Email Ward  

Susan Hoard, Chief Information Officer

Image of Susan HoardSusan is responsible for directing, planning and managing all aspects of Stone Belt’s information technology and its systems, including data, network infrastructure, connectivity, telephony, printers and peripherals, and software. She is also responsible for directing client records management. Susan joined Stone Belt in 2003, and served as a programmer and software manager before assuming her current position in 2008.   |   Email Susan

Michele Shepherd, Director of Human Resources

Image of Michele ShepherdAs director of human resources, Michele oversees all human resource functions of the agency and supervises the central region staffing functions. She leads a team of experienced professionals working to recruit and retain a quality workforce committed to caring for our client and upholding the agency’s mission. Michele has served in a range of human resource positions and joined the agency 2000.   |   Email Michele

Jim Wiltz, Director of Milestones Clinical & Health Resources

Image of Jim WiltzDr. Wiltz earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at IU in his hometown of Bloomington. This was followed by master's and doctoral degrees from Ohio State University in clinical and IDD psychology, which is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Dr. Wiltz completed his graduate work at OSU's Nisonger Center - a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) - after completing a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Nebraska's Beatrice State Developmental Center internship site. He is now a licensed psychologist with endorsement as a Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP). Dr. Wiltz began his career over 20 years ago and has worked as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), group home manager, residential director, behavior clinician (BC), psychologist, and director of the mobile crisis program for southern Indiana. He now oversees operations at Milestones and serves on Stone Belt's Program and Executive Teams.   |   Email Jim

Bitta DeWees, Director of Community Employment

Image of Bitta DeWeesBitta assists clients in choosing, obtaining and retaining employment in integrated settings. Bitta joined Stone Belt in 1990 as an employment consultant. She has served on many state and local committees pertaining to the employment of individuals with disabilities and remains active on state and local levels.   |   Email Bitta 

Karen Freeman, Director of Manufacturing

Image of Karen FreemanKaren is responsible for coordinating manufacturing jobs and running day-to-day operations at Stone Belt’s 10th Street and Bedford facilities. Karen has been instrumental in expanding Stone Belt’s life sciences manufacturing initiative. Karen joined Stone Belt in 2003 and was previously Director of Stone Belt’s former activities in Owen County.   |   Email Karen

Susan Russ, Director of Lifelong Learning

Image of Susan RussSusan is responsible for developing and implementing Stone Belt’s educational curriculum agency-wide. She oversees the day-to-day educational programs of all regions. Susan began her career with Stone Belt as an employment consultant in 1994 and has held several different positions during her tenure with the agency.  |   Email Susan

Ilese Sabelhaus, Director of (South/East) Supported Living Program (SLP)

Image of Ilese SabelhausIlese oversees Stone Belt’s Supported Living program in the South and East regions, which include Lawrence and Bartholomew counties. Ilese joined Stone Belt as a teams coordinator in 2006; she has also served as east region associate director and as the quality measurement specialist. Prior to joining Stone Belt, Ilese gained much experience in the field as a state surveyor.    |   Email Ilese

Nancy Smith, Director of (Central) Supported Living Program (SLP)

Image of Nancy SmithNancy oversees Stone Belt’s supported living sites in its Central Region of services. There are nearly 50 independent living sites in Bloomington and surrounding areas. Nancy joined Stone Belt in 2003 and previously served as a group home manager. Nancy is also an advisor for the Self-Advocates of Monroe County and is active with the group at the state and local level.   |   Email Nancy

Carmen Levasseur, Director of Supported Group Living (SGL)

Image of Carmen LevasseurCarmen is working as the Director of Supported Group Living, as of February 2016. She has been working in Stone Belt’s group homes since 2014, through her previous position as Milestones Manager of Social Work. She has accomplished much in her time at Stone Belt, including starting a therapeutic group in the Lifelong Learning program called Bouncing Back, where clients learn resilience through self-expression.    |   Email Carmen
