Stone Belt maintains three sheltered workshops located in Monroe, Lawrence and Owen counties for approximately 250 individuals with developmental disabilities. Workers in Stone Belt's Manufacturing Services gain valuable work experience, learn new skills and earn competitive wages.
Manufacturing Services provides on-the-job training and teaches basic work skills such as daily work routine, taking appropriate breaks and interpersonal skills. The experience and skills gained from this job can easily be transferred to employment in the community if the individual chooses.
The manufacturing facilities are open to all clients. Some clients prefer the structured work environment that the workshops provide and work there five days per week, eight hours per day. Other clients choose to work in the workshop on a part-time basis. The remainder of their time may then be spent in a community job or as part of the Life Skills Enrichment program. Individuals participating in the Life Skills Enrichment program often spend some time in the workshop as part of their work skills attainment training.
